The March '08 issue of Jazzwise has just been released and contains TWO fantastic reviews of Splash Point Records products:

Sue Richardson's CD, "Emergence", which we launched in November at the London Jazz Festival, has been reviewed by Peter Quinn who described the CD as "the ideal showcase for her versatility as a sweet-toned vocalist, dynamic trumpet player and classy arranger".

"Liane Live" - our new DVD of the Liane Carroll Trio launched this month was reviewed by Mike Flynn, who said "this nifty digi-packed DVD concert is the perfect opportunity to catch up on Carroll’s impassioned and downright enjoyable live act".

Liane Carroll's first DVD was launched at The Purcell Room on 1st February '08. "Liane Live" is a recording of her in concert at the Brecon Jazz Festival and also features bonus footage of an interview with Helen Mayhew. Splash Point Records proudly present a DVD (SPR007DVD) of the Liane Carroll Trio concert at Brecon Jazz Festival 2006. Filmed by the BBC and introduced by Julian Joseph, it features the trio on sparkling form, with a special guest appearance by Ian Shaw.

Bonus Feature: Broadcaster Helen Mayhew's interview of Liane in Liane's home town (Hastings UK), with an impromptu performance of Three Sheets to the Wind.

The performance at Theatr Brycheiniog was originally filmed by BBC Wales, when Liane appeared at the Brecon Jazz Festival on Saturday 12th August 2006. The response following its subsequent broadcast on the BBC was overwhelming, with many many fans demanding a DVD be made available...

"Slow Down", Liane Carroll's new CD, was released on 24th September '07. It was launched at a sell-out gig at 606 Jazz Club on 27th September. Liane opened the evening with a beautiful solo version of In My Solitude. The band (Roger Carey, bass & Mark Fletcher, drums) were in fine form. Every number brought the house down.

Ian Shaw guested, playing piano for If I Loved You, as he does on Slow Down and singing a duet with Liane on You’ve Got Friend (as heard on Standard Issue) and finishing with a rousing duet of Fly Me To The Moon! 606 owner played flute in the finale medley of Black Betty & Tied to the Whipping Post! Liane received a standing ovation and a great party ensued. Many thanks to the 606 for yet again allowing Splash Point Records to host a superb launch at their wonderful venue.

Sue Richardson’s new CD, "Emergence", was launched at the 606 Jazz Club in November '07. Sue and her band performed to a packed house with guests coming in from Cape Town, New York and Montreux especially for the evening. Eclipse was voted favourite number on the album by the audience who all sang along to a rousing rendition of the Cuban number, I Just Can't Help Myself, written by Sue with lyrics by Matt Henkes. A few days later Sue gave a repeat performance and opened the London Jazz Festival playing it’s first gig, hosted at the Royal Albert Hall. The standing room only audience gave a rapturous response.
